On July 10, Radio Singapore International featured a broadcast on the “Gandhi, King, Ikeda: A Legacy of Building Peace” Exhibition which opened in Singapore from June 10-14 at the Singapore Management University.
The United Nations has proclaimed the period 2001-2010 as the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World, to emphasize the need for the international community to recognize and ensure assistance for children exposed to harmful and violent situations.
On June 23, some 20 SSA youths participated in the launch of the National Youth Forum (NYF) 2006 entitled, “Take the Lead, Be the Change” held at the Skate Park, Orchard Road.
On June 12, Singapore’s National Junior College and Tokyo Soka Gakuen held a friendship exchange event, a joint concert, at the compound of the Tokyo Soka High School. Together with four teachers, some 55 students from Singapore’s National Junior College (NJC) participated in this goodwill cultural exchange.
This is the core message that speaker Dr N Rahdakrishnan wanted to impress upon the 1,000 strong audience at the Women Peace Lecture (WPL) held on June 11 at the Ikeda Culture Auditorium (ICA) of SSA.
“A mentor elevates us (his disciples) to a higher plane, keeps a constant watch on us and ensures that we lead the kind of life we should live,” shared Dr Neelakanta Radhakrishnan at the Sixth Youth Peace Lecture.
June 10 was the day of the Opening of “Gandhi, King and Ikeda: A Legacy of Building Peace” exhibition, held at the Art Gallery of Singapore Management University (SMU).
The Sixth Daisaku Ikeda Annual Lecture was held on March 24 with distinguished speaker Professor Syed Hussein, Alatas, professor at the Institute of the Malay World and Civilization, National University of Malaysia delivering the lecture.
