On May 4, 2017, SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat, Chairman Michael Yap, and four SSA staff paid a courtesy visit to Acting President Mr Tan Lee Huak (picture above, fourth from right) at the Singapore Buddhist Lodge (SBL). Venerable Yan Xu and four other SBL representatives also joined in the dialogue.
Mr Tan shared about SBL’s contribution to the community in various aspects, in particular 39 years of presenting bursary awards to Primary and Secondary school students with academic excellence and are active in co-cirricular activities, regardless of race or religion. SBL also provides After-school Care, has a Family Service Centre, Dialysis centre and presents Chinese New Year angpao to the elderly during the Lunar New Year festive season.
SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat shared on SSA’s endeavours in peace, culture and education and also thanked the late SBL President Mr Lim Bock Guan for his support towards SSA’s activities.
Mr Tan lauded SSA’s efforts in contributing towards the well-being of the society which resonate well with SBL’s on-going initiatives to promote peace and harmony among different faiths and races. Mr Tan also congratulated SSA on celebrating her Golden Jubilee this year.
Through the dialogue, both organisations reaffirm their commitment in working towards the common mission of benefitting the community and society at large.
