As Singapore battles the COVID-19 pandemic during the circuit breaker period, the national blood supply dipped to a new low and critical level. On 16 May, SSA partnered the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) and held a blood donation drive with SSA Headquarters as the venue sponsor.
Let’s hear from two donors and a SRC representative on their thoughts:

I’ve been an active donor with the HSA for many years. When I saw the publicity on the website that there’s a donation so near my place, I am more than happy to come forward!
My daughter was also a recipient of the Blood Bank a few years back, so I’ve made it a point to pay it forward thereafter. Thank you for supporting this.

I’ve been wanting to do this when I saw the news of the dwindling blood bank on TV and I’m so happy to learn that SSA is supporting this initiative by the Red Cross. As my blood type is rare, I wanted to help during this challenging times of COVID 19. Though it’s my first time doing blood donation, I’m impressed that the process was very smooth.

We are happy to partner SSA again for this round of blood donation. We find SSA an ideal venue as we have many donors living in the East. Currently, we are running the donation drive daily except Mondays as there’s a critical need of blood by the hospitals during this COVID-19 period.
Today’s response is really very encouraging as we understand many people might think this is a non-essential service or have second thoughts about coming forward at this time. We are thankful to SSA for agreeing to today’s Drive and we look forward to more meaningful partnerships together.
SSA would like to thank all the donors who came forward to support the blood donation drive, and the Singapore Red Cross for another successful partnership.
