Sharing the joy of Lunar New Year

While many of us shun the squeeze and messiness of Chinatown during the Chinese New Year season, 25 volunteers from the Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) took time off work and their busy schedule to accompany 20 beneficiaries from the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) to Chinatown to soak up the spirit of the Chinese New Year on the 20th of January.

This marks the 4th year of our involvement. During these yearly trips down to Chinatown, beneficiaries get to learn about the customs and traditions of Chinese New Year. Their enthusiasm at every shop and corner brought sparked laughter and joy amongst both volunteers and beneficiaries.

At the end of the day, the smiles and joy on each of the beneficiaries face when they thanked the volunteers for the visit, is the greatest gift for the New Year.
