Five SSA Youth representatives attended the inaugural Abdul Aleem Siddique Memorial Lecture organised by the Harmony Centre held at the Singapore Islamic Hub on 22 November. The event, graced by President of Singapore Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, aims to promote greater understanding and engagement as a means to strengthen social cohesion among all faith communities in Singapore. The annual lecture is named after one of the founding fathers of the Inter-Religious Organisation of Singapore (IRO).
At this inaugural lecture, Mufti (Muslim jurist expert in the religious law) of Singapore, Dr Mohamed Fatris Bakaram, was invited to speak on “Religion: Source of Strength in a Challenging World”. The organiser plans to invite speakers from various faith to speak on contemporary national, global or emerging issues that are of concern to the faith community.
