“The determination to share the joys and sufferings of others” is one of three commitments that SGI President Ikeda shared in his 2013 Peace Proposal. Based on this commitment and in response to the Student Division (SD) June Project Treasure Everything, some 70 SD members from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and Republic Polytechnic (RP), as well as some adult division members, participated in the “3M Step-Up Challenge @ South East”. The event was held on June 8 at the Senja Soka Centre.
The Step-Up Challenge was an initiative by the South East CDC sponsored by 3M Singapore and supported by the People’s Association (PA). It aimed to encouraged the community to keep fit and climb stairs for a good cause. For every 100 steps climbed, a set of 3M stationery item would be given to a student from low income families. During this event a total of 75,888 steps were climbed and 758 sets of stationery items were donated.
