SSA partnered North East Community Development Council (CDC) in “Bag of Hope 2009”, a community outreach project to support needy families during this time of financial difficulties. The project aims to collect from the public basic food staples and distribute them to needy families who are on the public assistance scheme of the CDC.
On April 4, SSA members and friends went to Tampines Central Community Club to offer their donations, and a total of $50,000 worth of food items were collected. 80 members of the Soka Volunteer Group helped in the checking and sorting of donated items. On April 5, some 600 SSA members and friends gathered again to distribute the “Bags of Hope” to the needy families.
