SSA Invites Local Senior Journalist to share on Lunar New Year Customs

As part of the Voices of Spring 2007 prelude, a talk entitled “Beyond Gong Xi Fa Cai – A Sharing Session on the Customs of the Lunar New Year” was held on February 4, at the Gek Poh Ville Community Club. This event is co-organized by SSA together with the South West Community Development Council as part of the continuing efforts to promote inter-racial harmony and understanding.

The talk was delivered by speaker Mr Han Tan Juan, former local senior journalist and literary researcher. Some 200 people attended the Mandarin session that carried simultaneous English translation. Through his detailed and lively sharing, Mr Han spoke on the myths and stories behind the Chinese New Year customs. Many who attended expressed positive feedback on benefiting greatly from the session.
