SSA Youths Contribute to MILK Run 2007 to “Keep Young Lives on Track”

On July 1, some 2,500 SSA Student Division members and their friends participated in the community event of MILK Run, an annual event that involves the community in the anti-delinquency cause and promote the understanding of youth issues. The Guest of Honour for this event was DPM S Jayakumar.

Organized by the Beyond Social Services, this year’s event held at the Zouk Carpark put together a concert, parade and a community run where some 12,000 people gathered for the day. Besides gathering youths for the community run, SSA Student Division members also co-organized the Parade segment and put up mass dance and STOMP performances at the event.

In recognition of SSA’s efforts, the SSA Youth Division was commended “For the excellent contribution towards the youth parade, for promoting the Run, and for getting 2000 youths from all over Singapore involved in this worthy cause to keep young lives on track.”

In addition, a special commendation was presented to SGI President Ikeda for “leading and inspiring youth to contribute to the community by reaching out to disadvantaged young people and their families”.

Both the presentations were done by BSS Executive Director Mr Gerard Ee at the 40th SSA Anniversary cum Youth Festival celebration held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on July 7.
