On October 15, Dr Lawrence Edward Carter Sr., Dean of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel, Morehouse College, delivered a lecture on “Taking the Quantum Leap to Peace and Development at the SSA Headquarters.
The lecture was attended by some 1100 participants. Amongst the distinguished guests were former ambassador His Excellency Joergen Oerstroem Moeller; Director of Association of Muslims Professionals, Mr Alwi Abdul Hafiz; General Conference Secretary of Methodist Church in Singapore Mr Lim Soo Chin, and Religious Advisor of Mahakarmna Buddhist Society Dr K Gunaratna.
The lecture was chaired by Mr Arun Mahizhnan, Acting Director of Institute of Policy Studies (IPS). At the event, the “Gandhi, King, Ikeda: Community Builders” video was screened. Simultaneous Mandarin translation was provided at the lecture, too.
Following the lecture, the SSA Friendship Award was presented to both Dr Lawrence Edward Carter Sr., and Mr Arun Mahizhnan, in appreciation for their continued support towards the organisation’s endeavours in peace, culture and education.
