On 29 July, SGS Harmony Circle representatives attended the ASEAN Youth Forum and Interfaith Harmony Seminar organised by Jamiyah Singapore in conjunction with the inaugural Exemplary Interfaith Award 2023. Over the past years, SGS representatives have been involved in the various Racial and Religious Harmony Circles (Harmony Circle) which seeks to promote racial and religious harmony in Singapore, with a presence in every constituency. It serves as a bridge between religious, ethnic and community groups where leaders from these various groups can come together to build friendship and trust. Guest of Honour for the event was former senior minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
Mr Tharman presented the inaugural awards to three individuals to recognise their contributions towards promoting understanding and cooperation between different religions in Singapore. Sister Theresa Seow and Mr Tan Thiam Lye received the Exemplary Interfaith Award, while Mr Mohamed Irshad received the Interfaith Youth Leadership Award. Congratulations to the recipients!
