On July 21, CEO of the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) BG (Volunteer) Lim Teck Yin, who is also the grandson of the late MG (Posthumous) Lim Bo Seng, one of Singapore’s honoured patriot, visited SSA’s culture group — the Soka Youth Dance Crew (SYDC) — at their kick-off dance training at the Soka Culture Centre at Jurong. The training was in preparation for their performance at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2013 Closing Ceremony event. Accompanying him were a few members of the top management staff of SSC, including Strategic Development and Marketing Chief at SSC Mr Toh Boon Yi.
The guests were warmly welcomed by SSA Chairman Mr Andrew Ong Chin Chong, SSA Arts and Culture representatives Mr Alan Lee and Ms Dionne Lai, as well as SYDC Chief Mr Jarrod Ho. The SYDC welcomed them with a vibrant hip hop dance to the tune of Marching Towards the 21st Century. The high energy dance deeply impressed the guests.
In his address to the SYDC members, Mr Lim mentioned that he was very excited to see so many young people with such good spirit and good values from SSA. He shared about his working experience with SSA when he was the Chairman Show of National Day Parade 2002. It was an experience that he will never forget and he commended SSA for never failing to deliver its best, and for its discipline and spirit of unity. He is also very happy and assured to learn that SSA has agreed to support the SEA Games 2013 Closing Ceremony.
