Some 500 Young Women Division (YWD) members will partake in a meaningful performance at the National Day Parade (NDP) 2016 in celebration of the nation’s 51st birthday at the National Stadium in the Sports Hub. It will be SGS’s 31st year participation in NDP.
On March 30, the Kick-off meeting for NDP 2016 was held at the SSA Headquarters. NDP 2016 Chairman Show Senior Lieutenant Colonel (SLTC) Jason See, Creative Director Ms Beatrice Chia-Richmond, NDP 2016 Show Support and Show Management team, and representatives from Handicaps Welfare Association were among the distinguished guests in attendance. They were hosted by General Director Tay Eng Kiat, Chairman Michael Yap and YWD Chief Li Jin Haw. SSA NDP 2016 Committee, trainers and participants were also present.
46 YWD trainers put up a vibrant hip-hop dance performance followed by heartfelt singing of the national favourite, ‘Home’. The guests and audiences’ faces lit up when the trainers did hand-signing to the second half of the song. It was a touching moment that struck a chord in the hearts of many.
SLTC Jason See and Ms Beatrice Chia-Richmond then took to stage to share on the show concept for this year’s NDP carrying the theme “Building Our Singapore of Tomorrow”. They thanked all SSA participants for their forthcoming efforts to make NDP 2016 a great success.
SSA NDP 2016 Chairperson Zheng Men Fen shared words from SGI President Daisaku Ikeda, “One cannot expect to become happy without hardship or effort. Because we challenge ourselves we become strong. To become strong is to become happy.” She encouraged all the YWD participants to challenge and enjoy themselves through the NDP 2016 journey.
