Soka Gakkai Singapore

As we embark on this first year in the last decade towards Soka Gakkai centennial in 2030, the Singapore Soka Association (SSA) has renamed ourselves to Soka Gakkai Singapore (SGS) with effect from November 18. Our Chinese name 新加坡创价学会 remains unchanged.

SGS remains committed as a Buddhist organisation established to promote the understanding and practice of Nichiren Buddhism in Singapore and this name change is symbolic of our impending 50th year of registration with the Registries of Societies since 1972.

Congratulations to all members on this new departure together!

Design Rationale

Drawing inspiration from the eight-petaled lotus flower, the Soka Gakkai Singapore logo depicts the exuberance of the flower signifying the widespread propagation on the practice of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, the quintessential of Nichiren Buddhism, into the society.

It also symbolises the determination of members of Soka Gakkai Singapore to always advance kosen-rufu based on the indomitable Soka Mentor and Disciple spirit and the courageous heart of the Lion King, while aligning ourselves with the religious tenets of the Soka Gakkai.
