Second Wee Kim Wee-Soka International Seminar on Global Peace and Understanding

SGI President Ikeda became the first recipient of the Wee Kim Wee Gold Award at the second Wee Kim Wee-Soka International Seminar on Global Peace and Understanding held over two days on February 23 and 24 in the Administration Building of the Singapore Management University (SMU). This award was in recognition of his contribution to global peace and endeavours in treasuring humanity and diversity.

SSA Makes Endowed Gift to SMU

At the signing ceremony held during the Eighth SSA Student Peace Lecture on December 8 at the Singapore Management University (SMU), SSA Chairman, Mr Oh Kheng Yam, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SMU’s Dean of Students, Professor Ong Siow Heng, with SSA making an endowed gift to SMU to establish the SSA-Ikeda Peace Award in perpetuity at SMU.

Special Tribute to SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and Mrs Ikeda on SGI World Peace Day

On October 2, 51st SGI World Peace Day, Singapore-based humanitarian organisation, Mercy Relief (MR), presented a special Tribute to President Daisaku Ikeda for his unflinching endeavour in promoting global peace. It was held at the SSA Headquarters with MR Board members and staff, and 1200 SSA leaders in attendance.

Soka Youth Dance Crew Spices Up Lunar New Year Light-up and Opening Ceremony

On January 15 2011, huge crowd awaited the Chinese New Year Official Light-up and Opening Ceremony, of which Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong was the Guest-of-Honour. 25 Soka Youth Dance Crew members represented SSA in this annual festive event and performed an upbeat hip-hop dance.

“Soka Gakkai Award of Honour” Conferred on Mercy Relief

Soka Gakkai conferred upon Mercy Relief, the “Soka Gakkai Award of Honour”, which was received by Mr T K Udairam, Mercy Relief Chairman, at the Mercy Relief Stakeholders’ Charity Golf and Dinner 2010, held on 25 November. Mr Ong Bon Chai, SSA General Director, presented the award that carried the signatures of Dr Daisaku Ikeda, Soka Gakkai Honorary President, and Mr Minoru Harada, Soka Gakkai President.
