On November 20, Singapore Soka Association (SSA) supported the Singapore Management University’s (SMU) Wee Kim Wee Centre, in organising the Third Annual Ikeda Peace and Harmony Lecture at the SMU School of Law Function Hall, which was filled with over 800 people. The attendees included representatives from SMU and SSA, as well as members of the public.
SGI President Ikeda became the first recipient of the Wee Kim Wee Gold Award at the second Wee Kim Wee-Soka International Seminar on Global Peace and Understanding held over two days on February 23 and 24 in the Administration Building of the Singapore Management University (SMU). This award was in recognition of his contribution to global peace and endeavours in treasuring humanity and diversity.
Daisaku Ikeda, president of the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) Buddhist association, issued his 35th annual peace proposal titled “The Global Solidarity of Youth: Ushering in a New Era of Hope” on January 26, 2017.
The Second Annual Ikeda Peace and Harmony Lecture was held on November 4, 2016 at the Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium of the Singapore Management University (SMU). The lecture, titled “RE-THINKING ASEAN: The Problems and Prospects for Regional Peace” was delivered by Dr Leticia Ramos Shahani.
On March 4, President Yoshihisa Baba of Soka University and President Arnoud De Meyer of Singapore Management University signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Soka University and Singapore Management University at the inaugural Wee Kim Wee – Soka International Seminar on Global Peace & Understanding held in the Administrative Building of Singapore Management University.
Singapore Management University’s (SMU) Wee Kim Wee Centre, with the support of SSA, instituted the Annual Ikeda Lecture for Peace and Harmony lecture series by holding the inaugural lecture on November 6, 2015 at the SMU Mochtar Riady Auditorium.
Such somber revelations at the 10th SSA Student Peace Lecture (SPL 10) filled attendees with resolve to stand up in their own way to change the state of poverty in the world today. Held on February 7, 2015 and themed “Poverty is for Me to Change” at the SSA Headquarters’ Ikeda Culture Auditorium, SPL 10 saw the largest turnout ever in the 10-year history of the lecture series with more than 600 in attendance.
November 1st will go down in history as a special and memorable day for the 111 K2 children of Soka Kindergarten. It was the 21st Graduation Day event held at the SSA Headquarters.
