The inaugural Future Division (FD) overnight Training Course was held at the Tampines Soka Centre from 21 to 22 December. Some 250 Secondary Three to Five students and FD leaders participated in the event themed “I am Gen NHR (Generation New Human Revolution)!”.
With renewed determination, these Young Phoenixes are ready to soar into year 2020!
SSA Chingay 2017 item ‘Singapore City of Dreams” received two awards at the Chingay Awards Presentation Ceremony 2017 and Appreciation Night that was held on March 14 at Wavehouse Sentosa. Guest-of-honour for the evening was Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Leader of the House.
When the upbeat music of the remixed song Cartoon Heroes by Aqua came in, the audience saw a contingent of 350 representatives from the SSA Future Division marched in in one of the brightest costumes of Chingay Parade 2017.
During the school holidays, 150 Future Division (FD) members and their in-charges took the challenge to put up an exhibition that showcased President Ikeda’s tireless efforts to encourage the members during his three visits to Singapore. This exhibition was held on 18 and 19 June 2011 at Senja Soka Centre, SSA Headquarters and Telok Blangah Soka Centre.
On May 29 2011, 80 Future Division (FD) members and their in-charges (IC) attended the “Sunday Odyssey”, a one-day tour of the various SSA centres to explore and learn more about the significant history behind each of the various SSA centres islandwide. The journey also included a visit to the Ba’alwie Mosque where the participants were warmly received by Imam and Head, Mr Syed Hassan Ahmed Al-Attas (Habib Hassan) and his son Mr Syed Ahmed Al-Attas.
Mr Syed Hassan Ahmed Al-Attas gave an insight to the religious beliefs and practice of local Muslim community. The SSA youths toured the mosque and were shown a potpourri of exhibits on Islamic faith and culture. The mosque also treated the young
Members of the Future Division (FD) comprising secondary level students made full use of the June vacation to bond and learn together through various fun and exciting activities.
On behalf of SSA, Young Men Division Leader Leonard Koh received a commendation of appreciation from the Lunar New Year 2009 Lightup Chinatown Organizing Committee at the event held at Chinatown on January 3.
On August 30, SSA Vice-General Director and Chairman of SSA Interfaith Committee Mr Chan Heng Yuen, shared on the basic underpinnings of Nichiren Buddhism and its spirit of contribution and service at the inaugural interfaith forum
On the Youth Day of July 6, SSA Future Division and Student Division members performed at the MILK (Mainly I Love Kids) Run, a charity run that aims to raise funds for at-risk youth and children. This event is organized by the voluntary welfare organization,
Some 120 youths from the SSA Future and Student Division participated in the Chingay Parade held on February 24 along Orchard Road.
