About 40 SSA youths from the Student Division (SD) and Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) were involved in Roses of Peace 2016 (RoP 2016), a youth-driven interfaith project organised to spread the universal message of love, peace, harmony and kindness as advocated by all faith groups.
On November 22, eleven teachers from the Anglo-Chinese School visited Senja Soka Centre under “CultureScope”, an engagement programme for educators organised by OnePeople.sg.
90 Soka Volunteer Group (SVG) members and new friends gathered at Bayfront event space for the Orange Ribbon Run, Singapore’s only Race Against Racism.
On June 14, the bright voices of eight Future Division (FD) representatives conveyed a warm welcome to 15 secondary school students, accompanied by camp facilitators and a teacher-in-charge, who visited Senja Soka Centre as part of “Camp Ignite!”.
Mr Iqbal Sanjiman, Assistant Director at OnePeople.sg, and his team visited SSA Headquarters. The party was hosted by SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat.
On January 23, SSA Chairman Mr Michael Yap delivered a speech on the Buddhist perspective on peace at an interfaith seminar organised by Jamiyah Singapore at Tampines East Community Club.
On November 28, SSA hosted “Celebrating Humanity, Faith and Love”, an interfaith seminar organised by Jamiyah Singapore and SimplyIslam.sg, at the SSA Headquarters.
“People found it hard to believe that we were out there in the sun, distributing roses with a message of peace and friendship, without selling them anything,” shared Alvin Lay (above, right), a SSA Student Division (SD) member who was a volunteer at the Roses of Peace 2015 event on October 4.
Four youth representatives from SSA, led by SSA Vice General Director Tan Hiang Keng, joined the Tampines West Inter-Racial and Religious Confidence Circle (IRCC) Harmony Tour 2013 to the Sri Sivan Temple and the Singapore Jain Religious Society on October 12.
