As part of the Voices of Spring 2007 prelude, a talk entitled “Beyond Gong Xi Fa Cai – A Sharing Session on the Customs of the Lunar New Year” was held on February 4, at the Gek Poh Ville Community Club.
Some SSA representatives participated in interfaith dialogues and seminars held over the months of February and March.
Soka Kindergarten was featured in The Straits Times on January 27.
On January 27, some 20 SSA youth representatives were amongst the 200 strong audience who attended the culmination of the Singapore Inter-Faith Youth Forum held at the Singapore Management University.
As part of the continuing efforts for interfaith dialogue and interaction, two SSA representatives attended a talk organised by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) at the MUIS Harmony Centre on January 25.
Using their love for dancing to contribute to the community – that is exactly what eight Young Women Division (YWD) members from the Sunflower Group did on December 10. Invited to perform at “Noise in The Market Arts Fiesta @ Ulu Pandan” cum Launch of CitizenConnect, these YWD performed a hip-hop dance that captivated the audience.
“I believe Soka Kindergarten (SK) was a base for my character building. molding me to what I am today … I strongly believe that Soka Kindergarten has equipped students like myself with the necessary skills to build on after we graduate from school.
Three Young Women Division members, namely Vanessa Yong aged 18, Adrienne Ser aged 19 and Jasmine Ser aged 16, clinched the first medal for Singapore in the Asian Games 2006 held in Doha.
Creative handicraft pieces of “huge pineapples”, “fortune frogs” and “fortune piglets” caught the attention of visitors to the Bedok Reservoir Park on November 26.
With the aim of imparting meaningful values on environmental protection to students and contribute to this endeavour, Soka Kindergarten (SK) has been active in promoting one of the principles expounded in the Earth Charter termed ”Respect for the Community of Life” to the students.
