Joint Performance of “Friendship for Peace” Concert by Local Orchestras
Three Chinese orchestras, namely the SSA Rainbow Chinese Orchestra (RCO), the Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra and the Gek Poh Ville Community Club Chinese Orchestra, came together to put up a joint performance at the SSA Headquarters on February 11.

On February 4, SSA Youth members put up a dynamic dance performance at the launch of the Silver Ribbon Project that was initiated to fight stigma against mental illness. Held at the Toa Payoh HDB Hub Mall, the Guest of Honour for this event was President S R Nathan.

SSA Chairman Attends Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner for Senior Citizens at the North East
SSA organised a Chinese New Year reunion dinner for some 120 senior citizens staying in the North-Eastern part of Singapore on January 23. This event was part of the Community Service Project, “Voices of Spring — A Chinese New Year Song Singing Festival.”

SGI President Ikeda once wrote, “There is probably nothing that speaks as directly to the human heart as music. Music as a vehicle for peace; music to connect hearts; and music to inspire hope in people’s lives” – these objectives, which captured the noble cultural spirit of the Soka Wind Ensemble (SWE), the YMD Courageous Musician Group (Brass Band) and the YWD Fife-and-Drum-Corps of the SSA, are clearly exemplified by their ever-advancing, ever-refreshing and ever-inspiring music.
