On October 21, SSA Chairman Michael Yap represented SSA youth division in the People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM)-Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Ceremony at Our Tampines Hub.
After 11 months of intensive preparation involving some 4,000 volunteers, the Lotus Sutra – A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence Exhibition was officially opened on 1 October, 2017, at The Arts House.
On June 10, 2017, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Singapore Kosen-rufu movement, SSA held the Community Partners Appreciation Night at the Singapore Chinese Culture Night. The Guest-of-Honour was Mr Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC.
On March 16, 2017, a team of senior officials from the People’s Association (PA), led by Chief Executive Director (CED) Mr Desmond Tan and Group Director Mr Nah Juay Hng, graced the 3.16 Kosen-rufu Day Commemorative Meeting held at the SSA Headquarters, Ikeda Culture Auditorium.
Singapore is a young nation with a population of just over five million. In 2015, it celebrated the 50th anniversary of its independence.
Mr Iqbal Sanjiman, Assistant Director at OnePeople.sg, and his team visited SSA Headquarters. The party was hosted by SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat.
On February 23, 2016, 60 members from the Senior Citizens Group went for an outing to ‘The Future of Us’ Exhibition at Gardens by the Bay.
On February 25, 2016, the 88.3Jia FM bilingual radio station, featured a 40-minute interview segment on SSA.
On March 3, 2016, six volunteers from the Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) accompanied 10 elderly clients from SPD@Toa Payoh for a day-tour to the S.E.A. Aquarium located in Resorts World Sentosa.
In his new year’s message, SGI President Ikeda wrote: “Our SGI movement is dedicated to imparting infinite hope to those weighed down by suffering and to fostering capable individuals who will build a bright future.
