From December 8 to 23, a group of 38 SSA Youth participants, including 2 new friends, braved the winter cold to embark on a life-changing journey to Yunnan Province on “Project SHINE”–SSA Youth Expedition Project (YEP) to the People’s Republic of China.

A month-long project of the SSA Student Division (SD), code-named HR30 and themed “Treasure Everything”, aimed to have the youths engage in simple acts of kindness and compassion that give meaning to the phrase “sharing the joy and suffering of others.”
The “Seeds of Hope: Visions of Sustainability, Steps towards Change” – an exhibition jointly initiated by the Soka Gakkai International and the Earth Charter International and highlighting how one individual can initiate positive change in one’s community – was introduced recently to three local institutions of learning.
The “Seeds of Hope: Visions of Sustainability, Steps towards Change” Exhibition was displayed at the Republic Polytechnic (RP) from December 10 to 12.
Five SSA Youth representatives attended the inaugural Abdul Aleem Siddique Memorial Lecture organised by the Harmony Centre held at the Singapore Islamic Hub on 22 November. The event, graced by President of Singapore Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, aims to promote greater understanding and engagement as a means to strengthen social cohesion among all faith communities in Singapore. The annual lecture is named after one of the founding fathers of the Inter-Religious Organisation of Singapore (IRO).
Life’s moments are often shared amongst one another. Most precious are the people encountered, the friendships made and the challenges surmounted. It is never about the destination, but the journey to get there together.
