Mercy Relief and Ba’alwie Mosque Commend SGI President Ikeda; SSA Presents Goodwill Award to Esteemed Friends

On November 18, humanitarian organization Mercy Relief presented a commendation to SGI President Daisaku Ikeda for his inspirational leadership. SSA Chairman Ong Bon Chai received the commendation from Mr T K Udairam, Chairman of Mercy Relief, at a meeting held in the presence of some 2,000 SSA members and guests at the SSA Headquarters.

In addition, Habib Syed Hassan Al’atas from the Ba’lawie Mosque also presented a gift for President Ikeda in commemoration of November 18, Soka Gakkai Founding Day. SGI President Ikeda sent a message in which he conveyed his appreciation and determination “to work harder to further promote friendly exchanges” between Singapore and Japan and to “blaze a path of peace and humanism for our youths to advance upon”.

On this significant occasion, SSA presented the SSA Goodwill Award to five esteemed friends who have been supporting the organization through the years. One of the recipients, Sister Theresa Seow, Director of Mercy Relief, lauded SSA members for taking action that is “relevant in the society today, where one can see the discipline and dedication of its members to collaborate in the advancement of peace, culture and education”. Fellow Goodwill Award recipient Professor Abdul Wahab, Director of Mercy Relief, shared his appreciation of the relationship between a faith-based organization like SSA and Mercy Relief.
