In the spirit of promoting inter-faith learning and sharing, SSA held its first public lecture series under the theme “Living Buddhism” on 2 May at OnePeople.sg Hall of Trust.
The lecture titled “Transforming Crisis – Empowering Ourselves through Self-Transformation” – sought to promote greater understanding of Buddhist teachings, specifically the life-affirming philosophy and humanistic values of Nichiren Buddhism.
SSA Public Lecture Committee members Mr Foong Sew Bun and Mr Yip Ying Kiong discussed the teachings of the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren Buddhism that teaches the existence of the universal Buddha nature in all, as well as the possibility of inner-transformation – a process of bringing forth our human potential to lead a value creative life.
The event was attended by members of the public and representatives from various religious organisations.
