On May 5 SSA presented the SSA Friendship Award to two distinguished friends whom SSA deeply cherished. They are Syed Hassan Al-Attas, Iman of Ba’alwie Mosque, and Madam Yan Choon Lian, Director of Dance Ensemble of Singapore. Amongst the distinguished guests present at the event were Member of Parliament, Dr Fatimah Lateef; Chairman of Daisaku Ikeda Annual Lecture, Dr Gwee Yee Hean; President of Photographic Society of Singapore, Mr David Tay; Former Senior Minister of State for Education, Peter Chen; and many other grassroots leaders. Speaker of Parliament, Mr Abdullah Tarmugi, also graced the event and gave a speech, highlighting SGS’s efforts in promoting interfaith understanding and interaction through the various grassroots activities.
