SSA General Director Ong Bon Chai and three SSA youth representatives paid Syed Hassan Al-Attas (Habib Hassan), the Imam and Head of the Ba’alwie Masjid, a courtesy visit on February 10, 2010 at the mosque and presented him with a summary of SGI President Ikeda’s peace proposal to the United Nations for 2010 and a box of mandarin oranges. In reciprocation, Habib Hassan presented SSA with two boxes of mandarin oranges.
During their dialogue, Habib Hassan expressed his deep reverence of SGI President Ikeda and SGS’s good work for the peace and happiness of all people. He also recalled his deep impression of SGS’s 40th anniversary celebrations back on July 7, 2007 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, for which he was invited as one of the guests. He further shared that SSA has been able to identify within each individual their strengths and enable them to bring forth such goodness, which is also synonymous with the teachings in Islam. Habib Hassan also mentioned that it is the strong leadership within the SGI and SSA that enables the organisations and its members to continually contribute to the welfare of the people both locally and regionally.
The heartwarming exchange reflects the deep bonds of friendship, trust and respect between SSA and Ba’alwie Masjid.
