On 9 January 2019, SSA hosted 7 representatives from the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), Family Development Group and Rehabilitation & Protection Group at the SSA Headquarters for a sharing session on the various opportunities that MSF can potentially collaborate with SSA to promote strong families and marriages.
During the sharing, SSA Women Division Chief Sek Soon Heng shared some of SGS’s activities that engages the family unit, such as the monthly 4 Division discussion meetings, and special groups such as the Dendrobium Orchid Group, a support group for newly married women or young women with young children to learn from one another’s’ experiences on fostering a harmonious family based on faith.
As expressed in the first of the 5 Eternal Guidelines of the Soka Gakkai – ‘Faith for a Harmonious Family’, when harmony and happiness can be achieved in the family, it too can be achieved in society. Both organisations reaffirm the shared aspiration to continue efforts in building strong families and a caring society.
