SSA Makes Endowed Gift to SMU

At the signing ceremony held during the Eighth SSA Student Peace Lecture on December 8 at the Singapore Management University (SMU), SSA Chairman, Mr Oh Kheng Yam, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SMU’s Dean of Students, Professor Ong Siow Heng, with SSA making an endowed gift to SMU to establish the SSA-Ikeda Peace Award in perpetuity at SMU.

Started in 2008, this award recognises SMU students who are committed to the spirit of volunteerism and given annually to a student who has achieved or made significant contributions to the University or the community at large through partnership with volunteer welfare organisations. SSA regards this as a well suited arrangement to promote youth leadership and service to the community in the name of peace leader, Dr Daisaku Ikeda.
