SSA contributed to a World Record Breaking event where the world’s largest needlework, measuring 20.1 metres by 13.8 metres (277 square metres), was unveiled on September 9.
Organized by Tampines West Community Club, this was the culmination of some six weeks of efforts by 3,000 people from schools, resident committees, mosque and other grassroots organizations including SSA. About 150 SSA Women Division members came together to stitch 300 of the 4,000 pieces of cross-stitched patchwork, with each measuring 30 by 30 centimeters, which eventually make up the entire fabric.
Guest of Honour for this event was Mr Zainal Abidin Rasheed, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Mayor of the North East Community Development Council. An appreciation plaque was presented to SSA for the efforts.
