After learning about the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25, SSA held a donation drive during the World Peace Prayer Meetings on May 1 and 3 to support the humanitarian relief efforts of Mercy Relief, a Singapore-based non-governmental humanitarian charity.
At the weekly Morning Gongyo Prayer Meeting on May 10 at the Senja Soka Centre, the cheque for the total collected sum of SGD $89,537.41 was presented by SSA Chairman Michael Yap (second from left) to the Chairman of Mercy Relief, Mr Michael Tay (first from right). Mr Michael Tay addressed the attendees present, giving an update on their relief work at Nepal, and expressed his appreciation for SSA members’ generous support.
