On 17 March, 10 SSA representatives attended the 63rd anniversary celebration of the Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO). Together with friends from various religious groups in Singapore, they witnessed the formalisation of the appointment of the IRO’s first patron, former president of Singapore, Mr S R Nathan.
In his speech, Mr Nathan said, “We are also fortunate to have responsible religious and community leaders who speak out our shared values, appreciate differences and respect diversity. They have nurtured painstakingly our religious harmony since independence, reminding us how special and yet how fragile it is. This harmony is for our continued peace and prosperity. We must continue to strive to make it even stronger.”
