Some 40 SSA youth representatives were amongst the 500 youth present at the Youth Mentor Summit 2008 held on October 4 at the NTUC Conference Auditorium. Organised by the National Youth Council and the Halogen Foundation Singapore, the Guest of Honour for this event was Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports.
Invited experienced speakers shared on the significance of youth mentoring and the challenges in mentoring work. Further insights were also provided at the subsequent plenary sessions based on the four themes – “Coaching your mentee”, “Facilitate reflections and learning for your mentees”, “Mentoring youths-at-the-fringes” and “Get it right: Building the right foundation for mentor excellence”.
