SSA Youths’ Engagement in the Community

Tampines GRC Post National Day Rally Dialogue 2019

On 14 September, 12 SSA youth representatives from the Student Division attended the Post National Day Rally Dialogue under the invitation of Tampines GRC.

This year’s dialogue took on the concept of a “model parliament” where youth participants engaged in discussion and role-play based on three key topics, namely Climate Change, Future of Our Workforce, and Inequality.

In addition, they had the opportunity to engage with Tampines GRC Grassroots Advisers – Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, Minister Masagos Zulkifli, Mayor Desmond Choo and Senior Parliamentary Secretary Baey Yam Keng during the open dialogue segment.

“It was very heartwarming to see people from various walks of life come together to discuss on the policies, knowing everyone wants to make a positive impact in society. And it’s important to remember that change in our society begins with our individual efforts.”, shares Ms Shermaine Tan, one of the SSA youth representatives.
