On February 13, delightful pop tunes from the 170 strong Young Men Division Brass Band, YWD Fife-and-Drum Corps and the Soka New Century Orchestra filled the air at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The youthful musicians captivated the audience of some 500 people with tunes such as “Conga” and “Mama Mia”.
The audience was also enthralled by the swift-changing formations of the YMD Brass Band members, as well as a lively baton twirling and modern dance of the Fife-and-Drum Corps members. The combined performance serves as an outreach for the three SSA cultural groups to engage the public with their music, foster public understanding of SSA and forge bonding among the groups. The event was supported by the Singapore Botanic Gardens and the National Parks Singapore.
