SGI President Daisaku Ikeda was honored by the Chinatown Chinese New Year 2008 Organizing Committee for his “tireless promotion of peace, culture and education” at the annual Lunar New Year Street Light-Up 2008 held on January 19, 2008. SSA Vice Chairman Mr Michael Yap received the commendation on behalf of SGI President Ikeda from Member of Parliament (MP) of Jalan Besar GRC, Dr Lily Neo. The Guest of Honour for the event was Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.
SSA Young Men Division Golden Lion Dance Troupe and Gym Core (Callisthenics) Groups put up martial arts performance and a gymnastics display respectively at the event.
