On June 12, Singapore’s National Junior College and Tokyo Soka Gakuen held a friendship exchange event, a joint concert, at the compound of the Tokyo Soka High School. Together with four teachers, some 55 students from Singapore’s National Junior College (NJC) participated in this goodwill cultural exchange.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan. Thus, it is very meaningful that NJC’s Chinese Orchestra and Guzheng Ensemble held this joint concert with the Soka High School Koto Club, Tsubasa Chorus Club, and the Soka High School Wind Orchestra. The concert was attended by the student and teaching staff of Soka Senior and Junior High Schools.
On this occasion, the leader of the Singapore delegation Mr Tek Yong Shoun, presented a memento of appreciation to the founder of the Soka Gakuen, Dr Daisaku Ikeda, for his support towards the success of the cultural exchange. A certificate of appreciation was also presented by NJC to the Soka Gakuen.
The NJC delegation toured the school’s premises and had a joyful exchange with the Japanese students. Mr Tek shared that this wonderful exchange signals the start of a new friendship forged by the young generations of the two countries.
