SSA Display Dazzles and Delights at NDP 2013

ledndpNational Day Parade 2013 was a great show of spirits and determination, besides the joyous celebration of all Singaporeans befitting Singapore’s 48th birthday. It was a night to remember for all who watched the spectacular show at Marina Bay, as well as the thousands of others who were glued to the television sets at home.

Behind every successful performance are untold stories and struggles. The “Human LED” display by the contingent of 800 performers from Singapore Soka Association was no exception. The display that required concentration, discipline and precision must have demanded of the performers their show of commitment and seriousness of mind, as they went through the months of training while keeping up with the demanding routines of daily life. The moving stories of two participants who decided to battle their terminal illnesses while pacing their NDP trainings and rehearsals speak for it all.

ndpledThe evening of August 9th marked the moment of victory for the arduous struggles and hard work of the participants. Voted one of the favorite and best displays, the Human LED display provided a stunning visual and backdrop to tell the Singapore story together with all the other performing items.

The dazzling display that night was reminiscent and a delightful reminder of the debut human flashcard display that SSA performed in 1986. With that iconic first mass display performance, SSA has come a long way in celebrating our Nation’s most important day each year.
