SSA participates in Chingay Parade 2013

A Heart-warming Spectacle of Fire in Snow

A 100-strong contingent of “mighty generals”, members and friends of the Men and Young Men Division of Regional Headquarters One, represented SSA at Chingay Parade 2013 held on February 22 and 23. Gallantly decked in golden armour and bright red capes they marched valiantly with torches and in synchronised strides, along the promenade by the Formula-One Pit Building. These men gave a splendid display of vigour and unity at various junctures along the parade route, warming hearts and inspiring courage, hope, strength and compassion amongst the 150,000 spectators.

The parade was graced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife, Mdm Ho Ching on the first evening, and President Tony Tan Keng Yam and his wife Mrs Mary Tan on the next.

This year marks the 31st year of SSA’s participation in the Chingay Parade. Mr Nah Juay Hng, Group Director (Networks) People’s Association remarked,

“SSA is one organisation regarded as a strong partner and a trusted friend of the People’s Association, not for a short period, but so many years. Since 1981, SSA has been participating in the Chingay Parade. Many a times, when Chingay has a very difficult task, in terms of choreography and concepts, we always come to SSA for support. Always SSA would not say “No”. We are grateful to SSA for your friendship and support for Chingay. SSA members are very disciplined; always very committed and passionate.”
