SSA Receives Awards for Outstanding Performance at Chingay Parade

Chingay 2012 was truly an unforgettable and remarkable event. It encompassed the journey of some 1,000 SSA youth members and friends coming together in unison to “contribute vibrantly to the nation as excellent citizens of Singapore”, as inspired by SGI President Ikeda, and alongside many others from all walks of life.

All the participants gave their best despite their routine commitment. The support of the Soka Stallions (Men Division logistics support group), Passion Group (Women Division make-up group), the Soka Medical Group and Admin-in-charge also contributed to the success. Equally commendable are the numerous family and SSA members supporting the success of the event through prayers and other unseen efforts.
All these efforts culminated in an evening of appreciation at the Chingay 2012 closing reception held at the People’s Association (PA) Headquarters on February 28 where two awards were presented to SSA. The first is the Contingent Display Award (performing groups with more than 300) presented by PA Chief Executive Director Mr Yam Ah Mee. Assistant Youth Chief Ms Yeap Lay Huay and Choreographer Ms Priscilla Liew received this award on behalf of SSA.

SSA is also deeply honoured to receive the Chingay 2012 Culture Award signed and presented by Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and Deputy Chairman of PA Mr Lim Swee Say. This award was presented in acknowledgement of SGS’s 30 years of participation in the annual street parade. Chairman of SSA Management Committee Mr Oh Kheng Yam received the award on behalf of the association. SSA is the sole recipient of the Chingay 2012 Culture Award (30 years).
