SSA Youth Performers represent Singapore

SSA Youth performers honoured to represent Singapore at the Closing Ceremony of the 27th Southeast Asian Games

On December 22, SSA Youth representatives performed an endearing eight-and-a-half minute item on the stage at the Wunna Theikdi Stadium in the chilly Burmese capital of Naypyidaw. The performance symbolised Singapore’s appreciation to the host nation of Myanmar in passing the baton of the SEA Games to Singapore and also to set the stage for the 28th SEA Games in Singapore in 2015.

The SSA group comprised 2 choreographers, 41 members of the Soka Youth Dance Crew (SYDC), 3 members of the Golden Lion Dance Troupe and 10 behind-the-scene support personnel. The group was joined by 6 taekwondo and gymnastics athletics, as well as a vocalist (also a student) from the School of the Arts.

After more than 55 sessions of rigorous training and rehearsal spanning some three months, the team not only put up a thrilling act that showcased the Singapore Spirit to friends around the world, but at the same time forged precious friendship that fully displayed the spirit of the games. SGI President Ikeda shared that “Friendship is the most beautiful, most powerful and most valuable treasure in life.”
