The eighth Student Peace Lecture (SPL), titled “The Boons and Banes of Social Media: Can social media harness the goodness in us?”, was held on December 8 at the Mochtar Riady Auditorium of the Singapore Management University. The lecture was delivered by Guest Speaker Assistant Professor Marko Skoric, Deputy Head, Division of Communication Research, Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, whose research interest centred on new media and social change.
Dr Skoric delivered the lecture to a packed audience of about 326 attendees. The event was chaired by Mr Tan Tarn How, a renowned local playwright and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies, National University of Singapore.
The SPL is an annual series organised by the Student Division of SSA and has been graced by distinguish speakers from diverse fields since 2005.
