To mark this month of great significance – 90th anniversary of Soka Gakkai’s Founding and 20th anniversary of SGI President Ikeda’s third visit to Singapore – SSA is honoured to establish the Singapore Soka Education Bursary with the National University of Singapore (NUS), the leading and oldest higher education institution in Singapore founded since 1905. Mr Ikeda first did a book donation to the University during his inaugural visit to the Lion City in 1988.
On 25 November 2020, the symbolic ceremony was held at the SSA Headquarters with guests from NUS in attendance. Starting from academic year 2021/2022, the Singapore Soka Education Bursary will be awarded to financially needy undergraduates enrolled in any course of study at NUS, bursary recipients would need to demonstrate contributions to the community through efforts in volunteerism and peace work, as well as qualities in leadership and social responsibility. Heartiest congratulations to all on the new milestone in this significant year!
