The “Seeds of Hope: Visions of Sustainability, Steps towards Change” – an exhibition jointly initiated by the Soka Gakkai International and the Earth Charter International and highlighting how one individual can initiate positive change in one’s community – was introduced recently to three local institutions of learning.
From March 18 to 22, the exhibition was held at the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) in collaboration with the SIM Sociology Club for the SIM Sociology Week 2013. Together with SIM Sociology Club members, SSA Student Division (SD) members guided 273 visitors, including SIM lecturers, staff and students through the exhibits.
The exhibition was next introduced at the Hwa Chong International School (HCIS) from April 1 to 5 in conjunction with the school’s Economics Day, themed “Heal the Earth — It Starts With Me!” Some 80 viewers, mostly students benefited from the empowering message of the exhibition.
Part of the exhibition also went on display at First Toa Payoh Primary School and was viewed by some 1,200 students and teachers from April 8 to 15. The exhibition coincided with the school’s “Earth Week cum Library Week”. The children were especially fascinated by the little snippets of information about unusual animals and animals facing extinction at the bottom of each panel.
