The ‘Audience Favourite Contingent’ award was presented by People’s Association Board Member, Mr Ng Yoke Weng, and received by SSA Future Division Chief Wu Derui.
2) Most Popular Contingent
The presentation of second award caught the team by surprise! The ‘Most Popular Contingent’ award was received by representatives from the choreographer, trainers, performers and admin team and led by Future Division Chief Wu Derui. In a speech by People’s Association Board Member, Mr Timothy James de Souza, PJB, BBM, PPA(P), Mr de Souza recognised SSA as the longest-standing partner of the Chingay Parade for 36 years since 1981. He attributed the organisation’s ability to participate in the Chingay Parade annually, each year with new participants, due to the strong shared common belief of its members in being good exemplary citizens who contribute back to the community. In his interaction with Dennis Lee, Contingent Leader of SSA Chingay contingent 2017, Mr de Souza learnt and shared that “when you have the gratitude in your heart, and the joy that comes from it, you will want to share it with everyone.”
