On July 13, Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant-General (LG) Perry Lim Cheng Yeow, presented a certificate of commendation and a special edition crystal on behalf of Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to SGI President Ikeda at SSA Headquarters, in recognition and appreciation of President Ikeda’s wise leadership which has set the direction for SSA members and inspired them to contribute to society as good citizens. SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat received the certificate and crystal on President Ikeda’s behalf.
Some 800 National Day Parade (NDP) 2017 participants and chapter and above leader representatives were there to witness the joyous occasion.
Together with LG Lim, were representatives from the NDP 2017 Executive Committee including its chairman Colonel (Col) Melvin Ong. In his speech, LG Lim shared that SSA has always set high standards and expectations for their performances, and has never failed to overcome any setbacks with creativity and tenacity. Col Ong also praised SSA performers for their hard work, dedication and passion.On the same day, SSA presented LG Lim with the SSA Friendship Award in deep appreciation of his understanding and support of SGS’s movement for peace, culture and education.
During General Director Tay’s address, he thanked SAF for the recognition accorded to President Ikeda and SSA, which serves as a wonderful encouragement to SSA members.
