In the month of May, SGS was invited to celebrate the joy of Hari Raya Aidilfitri with our Muslim friends and the interfaith community. This was the first time that the Hari Raya celebrations were held physically after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
On 13 May, SGS General Director (GD) Tay Eng Kiat attended the “Minister’s Hari Raya Get-Together 2022” under the invitation of the Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Mr Masagos Zulkifli. The event was held at the Pan Pacific Singapore with about 400 community and religious leaders in attendance.
On 21 May, SGS Women Division representative Choy Yin Leng attended the Harmony Raya 2022 at Furama City Centre, organised by PPIS Research and Engagement Department. Themed “The Legacy of Historical Women in Islam”, the event saw participants in a robust discussion on historical women achievers. Check out their page for the event highlights.
On 26 May, GD Tay attended the Harmony Centre’s Hari Raya Reception 2022 held at the Alkaff Upper Serangoon Mosque. Guest-of-Honour for this event was Minister of Culture, Community (MCCY) and Youth & Second Minister for Law Mr Edwin Tong. He was joined by Minister of State for MCCY and Ministry of Trade and Industry Mr Alvin Tan and Muis’ Chief Executive Mr Kadir Maideen.
