On April 7, SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat and four SSA Community Relations staff paid a courtesy visit to Imam Habib Hassan Al-Attas at the Ba’alwie Mosque.
During their dialogue, Imam Habib Hassan emphasized the importance of nurturing good friendship and communication among the different religious groups for maintaining peace and harmony in Singapore. He further congratulated SSA on celebrating 50 years of movement for peace, culture and education in Singapore and expressed his deepest admiration to SSA for her long-standing contribution to the community over the past five decades.
General Director Tay conveyed warm wishes from SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and presented Imam the book ‘The Wisdom of Tolerance: A Philosophy of Generosity and Peace’, a dialogue between Abdurrahman Wahid and Daisaku Ikeda. In reciprocation, Habib Hassan presented a carpet to Dr Ikeda received on behalf by General Director Tay.
The genuine and heartfelt dialogue reminds us once again on the beauty of our multiracial and multireligious society and the close friendship between SSA and Ba’alwie Mosque.
