“Our diversity enriches our society, makes us interesting and allows our people to access different cultures. But it also means each of us must work hard to safeguard our harmony… We have to build trust, mutual confidence and come through peaceful as one nation,” shared Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Guest-of-Honour for the 20th Anniversary of Taoist Federation Cum Grand Interfaith Dinner, held at the Singapore Expo Hall 2 on 3 December 2010.
Themed “Unity in Diversity, Harmony and Progress”, the event was co-organised by the Taoist Federation, Inter-religious Organisation, Singapore (IRO), Singapore Buddhist Lodge, Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple, Loring Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple and San Qing Gong Temple. It gathered more than 2,600 religious leaders from over 20 religious organisations across Singapore, including 10 representatives from the Singapore Soka Association (SSA), led by General Director Ong Bon Chai.
During the dinner, 22 SSA Primary Division children (also known as “Lion Cubs”) joined children from MacPerson Sheng Hong Childcare Centre in delighting everyone with a bright and cheerful children song entitled “The More We Are Together”.
SSA has been a faithful supporter of the IRO, which aims to inculcate the spirit of friendship and cooperation among leaders and followers of different religions.
