Mental Wellness Talk for Hoju Group

According to the World Heath Organisation’s estimates, depression will become the top three killers of the 21st Century. This is no alarmist statement, but a topic of increasing concern in society. As the saying goes, “prevention is better than cure”. Thus, a Mental Wellness talk was arranged for the Hoju (Treasure Longevity) Group at their meeting on May 8, at the SSA Headquarters.

The talk, jointly conducted by SSA and the Agency for Integrated Care, seeks to promote and enable members to deepen their understanding of the importance of mental wellness, as well as its prevention. Entitled The Happy You, the talk was conducted by speaker Ms Ong Choon Ming, an occupational therapist from the Singapore Mental Health Association. Buddhism takes a holistic approach to the treatment of sickness and definition of health.

SGI President Ikeda shares: “Is health a state where one’s body is simply free of disease? Good health is mustering a robust attitude to aggressively combat any malicious threats to our well-being. It is in this unyielding resolve to fight, challenge, create and ceaselessly advance that we find the basis of true human health.”
