On 21 April, some 110 volunteers from the Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) gathered at the Tampines Soka Centre to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the formation of the group.
SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat and Women Division Chief Sek Soon Heng expressed their appreciation to the volunteers for their dedication and contribution to the community through their participation in SVG projects over the years.
The joyful anniversary meeting comprised of Buddhist study, new personnel appointments, and sharing of the group’s focus for the next 5 years. An updated SVG Handbook was also launched at the celebration.
In conjunction with this significant event, every SVG member was also presented with 2 pots of the Dendrobium Kaneko Ikeda Orchids from SSA.

SSA members have been actively involved in social and community service projects to bring hope and comfort to the less privileged in the society since the 1980s. On 25 March 2004, the Soka Volunteers Group was officially inaugurated, comprising volunteers from the four divisions (Men, Women, Young Men & Young Women Division).
Through the wide-ranging community activities and basing on the motto of “Compassion, Consideration, Commitment”, the SVG strives to contribute to the well-being of society based on the Buddhist principle of respect for the dignity of life.
